देखना चाहती हूं कैसे दिखते हैं नर्मदा जाओ खेलो जोहिला बोली मेरे पास अच्छे वस्त्र अच्छे गहने नहीं है कैसे जाऊं नर्मदा मेरे वस्त्र गहने ले लो जाओ देख कर आओ जहा बरात रुकी थी जोहिला वहां गई और सोनभद्र को देखकर खुद मोहित हो गई और सोनभद्र को भी गलतफहमी हो गई जोहिला को नर्मदा समझ बैठा और सब ने सोचा कि नर्मदा यही आ गई हैं तो वहां जाना व्यर्थ हैं भंवर के सारे रस्म हीवही करने लगे यह बात जब नर्मदा को पता चला तो बहुत गुस्से से वहां आई और जोर से लात मारी जोहिला नीचे गिर गई और नर्मदा वहीं से अलग हो गई

However Johila fell for Sonbhadra (another river originating in Amarkantak)
Sonbhara too misunderstood her to be Narmada Ma
Thinking that the progress of Baaraat, the rituals of wedding were begun
Hearing this Ma Narmada reached the place and in anger kicked Johila
She changed her course from there
(Narmada runs west and Sonbhadra runs east, though both originate almost at the same
place at Amarkantak)
